The goal
Pay off my $3,000 credit card balance by this time next year
Make it yours: change the highlighted parts, the numbers and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.
How you'll know you got there
A zero balance, and the card paid in full every month after that.
Why this works
Credit card interest grows the balance while you're trying to shrink it. The plan: stop adding to the card, know exactly what you owe and at what rate, pay more than the minimum on a fixed date every month, and put any windfalls straight onto the balance. Seeing the balance fall each month keeps you going.
A note of care: General guidance only, not financial advice. If repayments feel unmanageable, a free debt advice service or a qualified adviser can help you look at your options.
Milestones
One checkpoint for each of the first three quarters. The goal itself lands in the fourth.
- Quarter 1Plan set: balance, interest rate and monthly payment known, and new spending on the card stopped
- Quarter 2Halfway: $1,500 paid off
- Quarter 3Final stretch: under $750 left
Key results
Numbers you can check at any point to see whether you're on track.
- Balance paid off: 3,000 $
- Months paid above the minimum: 12 months
