The goal
Build my professional network with 24 real conversations by this time next year
Make it yours: change the highlighted parts, the numbers and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.
How you'll know you got there
24 real conversations held, and a group of people I keep in touch with regularly.
Why this works
Networking works best when it isn't transactional. A strong network is built from many small, genuine conversations kept up over time, not from collecting contacts at events. This plan starts with people you already know, adds a few new people each month, and puts the effort into following up and helping others, so the relationships are already there when you or they need them.
Milestones
One checkpoint for each of the first three quarters. The goal itself lands in the fourth.
- Quarter 1Mapped: 30 people to reconnect with or meet, and a simple way to keep track
- Quarter 2Rhythm: a few conversations a month, each followed up within a week
- Quarter 3Giving back: introductions made or help offered, and 18 conversations held
Key results
Numbers you can check at any point to see whether you're on track.
- Conversations held: 24 conversations
- Introductions made or help offered: 10 introductions
- New people met through my network: 12 people
