The goal
Make a considered move into a new field by this time next year
Make it yours: change the highlighted parts, the numbers and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.
How you'll know you got there
Working in a new field, or a clear, evidence-based decision not to.
Why this works
Career changes tend to fail in one of two ways: jumping before testing the new field, or researching forever. This plan runs small, cheap experiments first (conversations, a short course, a side project) so you decide with evidence. Then it builds the skills, network and savings buffer to make the move without betting everything at once.
Milestones
One checkpoint for each of the first three quarters. The goal itself lands in the fourth.
- Quarter 1Explore: 10 conversations with people in a new field and my pros and cons written down
- Quarter 2Test: one small project or course that shows the work suits me
- Quarter 3Move: portfolio or credential ready and first applications or clients out
Key results
Numbers you can check at any point to see whether you're on track.
- Conversations with people in a new field: 10 conversations
- Hands-on projects finished: 2 projects
- Transition buffer saved: 3 months of expenses

Your first week
- Write down what I want more of and less of in my work
- List 3 roles in a new field that could fit
- Find 5 people doing those roles and ask one for a 20-minute chat
- Check my savings and how long a transition could take
- Pick a short course or project to test the work
