The goal
Give a talk on my topic to a live audience by the end of the quarter
Make it yours: change the highlighted parts, the numbers and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.
How you'll know you got there
I gave the talk on my topic, well rehearsed and on time, and collected feedback from the audience.
Why this works
Confidence on stage comes from preparation and repetition far more than from talent. Nerves usually ease once you have rehearsed out loud a few times. This plan books a real, modest slot early so there is a deadline, builds the talk around one message the audience should remember, and spends most of the time rehearsing: alone, then on video, then in front of a friendly audience. Feedback afterwards turns this talk into a better next one.
Milestones
One checkpoint for each month of the quarter.
- Month 1Booked: a date and audience confirmed, and the talk's one-sentence message written
- Month 2Drafted: an outline, notes or slides, and the first full run-through out loud
- Month 3Delivered: the talk given, feedback collected and notes kept for next time
Key results
Numbers you can check at any point to see whether you're on track.
- Full rehearsals out loud: 6 rehearsals
- Practice run-throughs in front of friends or colleagues: 2 run-throughs
- Feedback responses collected: 5 responses

3 times / week · weekly habitSpeak up once in a meeting or group
2 times / week · weekly habit
Your first week
- List 3 places I could give a short talk: a team meeting, a meetup or a local group
- Ask one of them for a slot and a date
- Write the one thing I want the audience to remember about my topic
- Watch a talk I admire and note what makes it work
- Record myself explaining my topic for 2 minutes and play it back
