The goal
Keep in regular touch with 6 close friends by this time next year
Make it yours: change the highlighted parts, the numbers and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.
How you'll know you got there
Regular contact with each of my 6 close friends, and a shared plan with each every quarter.
Why this works
Adult friendships usually fade from neglect, not conflict. People who keep close friends tend to have simple, recurring rituals: a monthly dinner, a weekly call on the commute, a standing walk. This plan names the friends you want to stay close to and puts a light, regular rhythm in place with each of them.
Milestones
One checkpoint for each of the first three quarters. The goal itself lands in the fourth.
- Quarter 1Reached out: my list made and a catch-up with each friend
- Quarter 2Rhythm: a recurring call, meal or activity with most of them
- Quarter 3Deeper: a trip or bigger plan with at least one friend
Key results
Numbers you can check at any point to see whether you're on track.
- Catch-ups in person or by call: 36 catch-ups
- Friends with a recurring ritual: 6 friends
