The goal

Reach a healthier weight with habits I can keep by this time next year

Make it yours: change the highlighted parts, the numbers and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.

How you'll know you got there

Habits I can keep, steady progress toward a weight agreed with a professional, and no crash dieting.

Why this works

Crash diets tend to work briefly and then reverse. What lasts is a handful of habits you'd be happy to keep for life: regular, planned meals, daily movement and enough sleep. This plan starts with a check-in with a professional, builds those habits one at a time, tracks the habits more than the scale, and aims for slow, steady change.

A note of care: Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing how you eat, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating. This is a habit plan, not a diet.

Milestones

One checkpoint for each of the first three quarters. The goal itself lands in the fourth.

  1. Quarter 1Baseline: a check-in with a doctor or dietitian and two habits started
  2. Quarter 2Routine: most meals planned ahead and movement on most days
  3. Quarter 3Holding: habits kept through a busy month and a review of what's working

Key results

Numbers you can check at any point to see whether you're on track.

  • Weeks with movement on 5 or more days: 40 weeks
  • Planned or home-cooked meals per week: 10 meals
  • Progress toward the weight change agreed with a professional: 5 kg

Starter habits

  • Move for 30 minutes (walking counts)

    Every day · daily habit
  • Plan the week's meals

    1 time / week · weekly habit

Your first week

  • Book a check-in with my doctor or a registered dietitian
  • Write down why this matters to me, beyond a number
  • Plan meals for the next three days
  • Pick a daily walk time and put it in my calendar
  • Move one tempting snack out of easy reach and stock a better option
