The goal
Run a half marathon by this time next year
Make it yours: change the highlighted parts and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.
How you'll know you got there
Cross the finish line of a half marathon (21.1 km) without injury.
Why this works
Many first-time half marathon injuries come from doing too much too soon. This plan builds slowly: consistent easy runs first, then distance, with one long run a week and rest days protected. Booking a race gives you a fixed date to train toward, and a year leaves room for a missed week or two.
A note of care: If you're new to exercise, have a health condition or have had injuries, check with a doctor or physiotherapist before you start.
Milestones
One checkpoint for each of the first three quarters. The goal itself lands in the fourth.
- Quarter 1Base: run 5 km without stopping, three times a week
- Quarter 2Distance: run 10 km comfortably
- Quarter 3Long run: 16 km done and a race booked
Key results
