The goal
Journal for 5 minutes on most days by the end of the quarter
Make it yours: change the highlighted parts, the numbers and the wording. In Ascanti the dates are set from the quarter you start in.
How you'll know you got there
Journaling 5 minutes on at least 5 days a week for a month, with a monthly read-back done.
Why this works
Journaling helps most when it's short and regular rather than long and occasional. A few minutes at the same time each day, with a prompt ready for the days you don't know what to write, is enough to notice patterns, untangle worries and remember what went well. This plan starts small, ties the habit to something you already do and adds a monthly read-back so your entries turn into insight.
A note of care: Journaling isn't a substitute for support. If you're struggling with your mental health, talk to a doctor or a mental health professional.
Milestones
One checkpoint for each month of the quarter.
- Month 1Started: a time and place chosen, and a few lines written on most days for two weeks
- Month 2Habit: 5 minutes on 5 days a week, with a prompt on the stuck days
- Month 3Looking back: a month of entries read through and three patterns or lessons noted
Key results
Numbers you can check at any point to see whether you're on track.
- Days journaled: 60 days
- Longest streak: 21 days
- Monthly read-backs done: 3 read-backs
Starter habits
Journal
5 min / day · daily habit
Your first week
- Pick a cue: journal right after something I already do every day
- Write today's first entry in the Ascanti Journal (Notes › Journal), even just three lines
- Use a journaling prompt when I don't know what to write
- On busy days, add one line to the Daily Note instead of skipping
- Set a monthly reminder to read back through my entries
